Security Risk Assessment (SRA) of Industrial Parks in northern Vietnam

Objective

A client operating in the food and beverage sector engaged H&A to conduct two Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) in northern Vietnam. The client planned to establish at one of two industrial parks. The assessments aimed to identify potential security risks, evaluate threats, and recommend mitigation measures to inform the client’s decision-making process regarding their investment.

Approach

The SRA process included a macro-level threat assessment (covering country-wide risks) and a micro-level assessment of the local environment and industrial estates. H&A’s assessment methodology aligned with ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management and the client’s global security standards, focusing on:

  • Identifying threats and vulnerabilities at both industrial estates.
  • Assessing the security controls in place at each site.
  • Conducting a risk assessment to identify potential impacts on the client’s future operations.
  • Providing actionable recommendations to mitigate identified risks.

Outcome

The client gained valuable insights into the threat environment and the security risks associated with both industrial estates. H&A’s recommendations have supported the client in:

  • Incorporating risk management into their site selection process.
  • Developing security strategies for both the construction and operational phases of the facility.
  • Mitigating corruption risks and ensuring compliance with anti-bribery policies.

As the industrial estates continue to develop, H&A advised the client to conduct periodic security reviews to ensure that the security and infrastructure capabilities remain suitable for their future operations.

Impact

This SRA helped the client take a risk-led approach to site selection, ensuring they make informed decisions to protect their people, assets, and reputation in Vietnam’s evolving security landscape.
